I have always enjoyed working in construction. It is a dynamic, fast moving industry and the diversity of people involved makes it an exciting industry to be apart of. Couple that with emerging technology and improving business processes and I have found my place in the contech space. Our aim is to help make jobsites safer by working with clients, industry and tech partners to develop solutions and insights that drive better outcomes. I am also passionate about 'life' balance and endeavour to instill this philosophy into our business, staff and family life.
Coming into the construction tech industry, I saw tons of promise. Based on 14 years of business experience in finance and construction, I am obsessed with operational excellence and business improvement. I know that great tech solutions need to start in the field and be developed for the end user (not the other way around). And I've worked meticulously to help design our software to be easily implemented in organizations. Given my fan boy-esque love of change management, our solution takes into consideration the long game and making sure there is less pain down the road while making sure the solution is sustainable for our clients. And don't get me started on how to improve productivity! I might not stop.
While I'm generally very focused on business, you should know that I have a few great loves... my wife, my work, travel, and of course Aussie Rules Football.
James is passionate about building powerful SaaS platforms, that empower people to focus on their core business.
I bring over 18 years industry experience in both software development and IT operations. In an age where innovation is occurring at a breakneck pace I understand the first and foremost - performance, reliability and security are the core foundations of any successful product.
When not at my desk, you'll find me running trails through the Dandenongs and Yarra Valley.
Coming from an entrepreneurial family, I followed in their footsteps and started my first business within the technology realm in 2005. After 10 years of growing, learning and leading successful teams, I decided to join forces with Ben, Brad, James and Lucas to build what we all believe is a platform designed to change the way construction thinks about operations and safety. I joined HammerTech and moved to Seattle to help expand our platform and our US team. As an avid runner, sports fanatic, and drummer, I chose a great city, an amazing country, and am leading an expanding team of passionate professionals. While I still follow Aussie rules football, the Seahawks are my new home team. Go Hawks!
The construction industry has changed a lot since I started in it 14 years ago. And it’s changing even more with the adoption of digital technology to improve processes and make construction sites safer. It’s an honour to be doing meaningful work with a talented team, to improve the construction sector with smart and intuitive solutions.
When not at my desk, I’m exploring new places, both local and overseas, watching ice hockey or tending my garden.
Having developed a deep passion about SaaS Go To Market I work to position HammerTech as the best company it can be in the ConTech space, by telling our customer stories, generating content that engages and delights to drive growth and retention.
When not in the office I'm quite literally juggling new born babies, twins, a boy and a girl, playing guitar or taking a hit on the golf course.
I’ve spent virtually all my career in the Construction Tech space and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. My role is to help drive the growth of the business whilst making sure we’re delivering a great experience for our clients.
Outside of the office I’m an avid reader, a self-professed master chef and a keen traveller.
I’ve worked for the past 25 years in software with the last 12 years in the SaaS based construction technology space. A majority of my time has been spent working with customers to help ensure they receive the maximum value from the application while receiving the best implementation/customer success experience possible. At HammerTech, the implementation, success, and support teams’ goal is to help our customers utilize the application in the most effective manner to ensure their workers, subcontractors, and site visitors get home to their families and friends safely. To help achieve this goal, the team will always be readily accessible, possess expert domain knowledge, and provide exceptional support.
Outside of work, I enjoy swimming, biking, running, spending time with my family in SE Michigan, and hanging with my dog, Zoey.
After qualifying as a Chartered Professional Accountant with Deloitte, I joined SaaS-based Kinaxis where I served as Controller through its IPO on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Subsequently I served as CFO at Rockgarden Cannabis through its capitalization and sale to Auxly, and as CFO at Embotics through its capitalization and sale to Snow Software. I joined HammerTech at a very exciting time. The Company’s ambitious and energetic team has built a quality product, which provides a hard ROI to a large but under-serviced market through a repeatable sales process – all ingredients required for big success!
